Gary Carabio is one of the prominent local practitioners of the objective realist approach to painting. A consistent Jose Joya Award recipient while he was in the Fine Arts Program of the University of the Philippines, Gary Carabio has been a prolific artist ever since he was a student.

Gary provides time to impart his skills by conducting classes in his studio residence. Gary is also known for his portraiture skills which he has mastered under the tutelage of the late Cebuano master painter, Martino Abellana.
